CAMEROON BAGYELI PEOPLE CULTURAL TOUR-7 DAYS

The Bagyeli are one of Central Africa’s oldest indigenous forest communities, living in the dense rainforests of southern Cameroon for thousands of years. Semi-nomadic hunter-gatherers by tradition, they possess an extraordinary knowledge of the forest — its plants, its rhythms, and its wildlife — that no outside guide can replicate.

This 7-day journey takes you deep into their world: visiting Bagyeli hamlets in Lolodorf and Bipindi, sharing meals under the open sky, and witnessing traditional polyphonic singing and dance that is unlike anything else on the African continent. Combined with the thundering Lobé Waterfalls — one of the only places on Earth where a waterfall flows directly into the ocean — the pristine beaches and seafood of Kribi, the rare wildlife of Campo Ma’an National Park, and the unspoiled coastal village of Ebodje, this is one of the most immersive and genuinely rare cultural and wildlife experiences available anywhere in Africa.

Palace Travel has been operating in Central and West Africa since 1991. Our ground teams know these forests, these communities, and these roads. This is not a tour that can be replicated from a desk.

As evening falls, gather with the Bagyeli community for a traditional cultural performance. 4. Day 4:BIPINDI –KRIBI – LOB

After breakfast, travel to the coast and one of Cameroon’s most spectacular natural wonders: the Lobé Waterfalls — one of the only places on Earth where a waterfall cascades directly into the Atlantic Ocean. The surrounding beach offers stunning Atlantic views and is the ideal spot to relax after the forest immersion of the preceding days. Enjoy a fresh seafood lunch at a local restaurant — Kribi’s coastline is renowned for its grilled fish straight from the sea. In the afternoon, visit Grand Batanga, a traditional coastal village whose community museum houses a fascinating collection of cultural artifacts, historical objects, and items reflecting the area’s rich maritime and ethnic heritage. Return to Kribi in the evening.

  5. Day 5:KRIBI –CAMPOMA’AN NATIONAL PARK –EBODJE

An early start after breakfast for one of the tour’s most extraordinary days. Campo Ma’an National Park is one of Central Africa’s most biodiverse and least-visited wilderness areas, protecting vast tracts of ancient lowland rainforest along the Cameroonian coast. The park is one of the last remaining strongholds for the western lowland gorilla and the African forest elephant, alongside chimpanzees, forest buffalo, and an exceptional diversity of birds, reptiles, and plant species found nowhere else. Your licensed guide will lead you to the most captivating areas of the forest. After your forest exploration, travel to Ebodje, a tranquil fishing village on the coast, for an evening of cultural activities with the local community.

    Hotel: Eco Lodges

  6. Day 6 :EBODJE –KRIBI

After breakfast, enjoy a morning stroll along one of West-Central Africa’s most beautiful stretches of coastline, before visiting the iconic Rocher du Loup (Rock of the Wolf) — a dramatic natural rock formation rising from the sea that has long been a landmark for fishermen and coastal communities along this shore. Walk the fine-grained golden sands and take in the deep sense of calm that this stretch of coast offers. Afterwards, visit the Ebodje Turtle Museum, dedicated to the protection of sea turtles that nest along this coastline — a meaningful stop that highlights the community’s conservation efforts. Following lunch, depart for Kribi. The evening is free to explore the town, browse local markets, or relax by the sea.
