Few things you need to know

  • Entry is only allowed by air for all foreign nationals
  • Entry by land, sea or waterway remains suspended for all foreign nationals except for permanent residents
  • All travellers age 5 and above must present a negative COVID-19 test result issued no more than 72 hours before departure by one of the approved providers. Traveller must show the PCT test results in digital form by creating an account here to generate a Travel Code (TC)
  • All travellers must complete a Health Declaration Form before boarding. The form can be found here
  • All travellers will be subject to COVID-19 testing upon arrival. Travellers must pay for this test for before departure and present proof of payment before boarding. Payment must be made via this portal. Travellers who test negative on arrival are not required to quarantine. Travellers who test positive will be referred to the Ghanaian health authorities
  • Face masks are mandatory
  • Most offices, factories, restaurants and stores are open with social distancing measures in place
  • The public transport system is operating on a regular service throughout the territory
  • All travellers transiting via Ghana will be required to undergo a COVID-19 test on arrival. This does not apply to transiting travellers remaining in the airport throughout their transit and travellers transferring through Accra.
  • All travellers returning to the United States by air must provide a negative, viral COVID-19 test result taken no more than 3 days prior to departure. (Viral tests include a NAAT/PCR test or an antigen test.). It is recommended but not required that travellers are also tested 3 to 5 days after entry and that they plan to self-isolate for 7 days upon arrival
  • Travellers whose test results are in a language other than English should check with their airline before travel
  • Travellers who have tested positive for COVID-19 and recovered may substitute a negative viral test with a letter from a licensed health care provider or a public health official declaring that the traveller has recovered from COVID and is cleared for travel. Additionally, the traveller must also provide a documented proof of a positive COVID-19 viral test result from within 90 days prior to arrival
  • All travellers, aged 2 years and older, returning to the United States by air must provide a Passenger Disclosure and Attestation form. The form can be found here
  • Other re-entry requirements for travellers returning to the United States vary between states. For up-to-date public health measures, check the state or local health department of your planned destination. This information can be found here
  • Re-entry to the United States is not permitted for foreign national temporary residents and non-Green Card US visa holders who have visited the UK, the Republic of Ireland, the Schengen area, India, Iran, Brazil, China or South Africa in the past 14 days. Re-entry to the United States is permitted for these individuals after a stay of at least 14-days in a country not on this list
All travelers are required to present a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate at the port of entry in Ghana.
The Consulates of Ghana issue single entry visas that are valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Travelers are advised to apply for a single entry visa no more than 30 days before the intended departure date. This will ensure that your visa will be valid for the longest duration possible.
