Day 1:  ARRIVE IN DAKAR

Arrive Dakar; meet assist and transfer to the hotel.
Overnight at Le Ndiambour or Similar

Day 2: DAKAR – CITY TOUR – GOREE ISLAND

This morning depart for the 20 minute ferry ride to the charming  Goree Island. See the “Door of No Return”. The tour includes a lecture by the curator on the history of Goree Island, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue with visits to the impressive Ifan Historical Museum of the Diaspora. (Optional visits to the elementary school and the Mariama Ba high school).  Late afternoon return to Dakar and begin or complete the city tour. Visit include: the colorful markets including Tilen Market, famous for a variety of medicinal herbs and traditional healers. Visit the Museum; stop at the grand Mosque, the Presidential Palace, and the Artisans Market.
This evening you may enjoy Dakar’s vibrant nightlife.

Day 3:  DAKAR – PINK LAKE – THIES

After breakfast travel to Pink Lake, a rare natural phenomena caused by a unique combination of micro-organism and a high concentration of salts which gives the lake its pink color. Interact with the women harvesting salt then visit the nearby Fulani Village where you may be welcomed by the Chief and his wives. Continue to Thies, Senegal’s second-largest city and although it feels quite small it is much more pleasant than the ever bustling, Dakar. One of Thiès’ main attractions is its world-famous co-operative-run tapestry factory, the Manufactures Sénégalaises des Arts Décoratifs. The tapestries are all based on the paintings of Senegalese artists and can be quite expensive.
Early evening return to Dakar.

Day 4: DAKAR – BANDIA PARK – SALY RESORT

This morning depart to Sabobade for a tour by four wheel drive vehicle in Bandia Game Reserve.  Chance to see wildlife including Antelopes, Rhinoceros, Monkey, Buffalos, Giraffe among others.… Observe the legendary big Baobab tree which has been used during the past century as cemetery.  Continue to Saly beach resort arriving in time to get a few splashes in the ocean before nightfall.

Day 5: SALY – JOAL FADIOUTH

Today travel to Joal birthplace of Senegal’s first President, Leopold Sedar Senghor and its picturesque twin, Fadiouth a village covered with oyster and clam shells. Observe the food supplies are housed in granaries built on stilts.

Day 6: SALY – NIOKOLO KOBA GAME RESERVE

Early morning depart to Niokolo Koba National Park, via Kaolack, Kaffrine, Koumpentoum, Tambacounda. Late in the afternoon arrive at Simenti lodge deep inside the game reserve.

Day 7: NIOKOLO KOBA GAME RESERVE

Morning and evening guided game drives in 4WD vehicle. Here you will see varied wildlife including Horse Antelope, Elephants, Monkeys, Lions, Bush Pigs, Hippos, Crocodiles and others.

Day 8: NIOKOLO KOBA GAME RESERVE – KEDOUGOU

After breakfast, depart to Kedougou through Bassari area where you will see a fantastic landscape. Visit Bassari and Peulh villages and excursion to Dindefelo, waterfalls.Stop for lunch at Salemata then continue to your accommodation for the evening.

Day 9:  KEDOUGOU – KAOLACK

Complete the visits in Kedougou then continue to Kaolack. Arrive in the afternoon and check into the hotel. Here you can visit the big market among other attractions.

Day 10: KAOLACK – SAINT LOUIS

After breakfast, depart to Saint Louis, Senegal’s former colonial capital. Stop at the Holy City of Touba. Visit the Grand Mosque which is the largest and most magnificent in all of West Africa. You will learn about the legend of the holy man Cheikh Ahmadou Mbacke the founder of Mouridism and learn about the history and legend of Touba one of the most significant cities in Senegal. Continue to Saint Louis arriving early evening.

Day 11: SAINT LOUIS

Today you will visit the old colonial city of Saint Louis. Among the sites and monuments we’ll see are the Governor’s Palace, a fortress built in the 18th century across from the Faidherbe Place, the name of the famous colonial governor whose statue is erected in the centre. To the north and to the south of Faidherbe Place are houses dating back to the colonial period, with their wrought iron balconies and verandas, which remain intact. Visit the fishing village of Guet Ndar where you will see the fishermen and fish vendors in their daily commercial activities. You may sample grilled fish.
Time permitting optional visit to Djoudj National Bird Park which is considered one of the most important bird sanctuaries in the world. Situated on a major Palearctic migratory route. This park is a paradise for bird enthusiasts. Some of the world’s greatest concentrations of white pelicans, ducks, cormorants, and flamingos can be seen here: up to 10,000 species.

Day 12: SAINT LOUIS – LOUMPOUL – DAKAR

After breakfast depart from St Louis to Lompoul.
Where you will be met by our local host and if you wish ride a camel on the sand dunes.
From the top of the dunes you can get a panoramic view of the seashore. Continue to Dakar where your guide and driver will assist you in selecting your excursions and activities for the rest of your time in Senegal. Choose from a variety of activities some will depend on the day of the week.

 Day 13: DEPART – DAKAR

Today, you will continue to assist with the selection of your excursions and activities until you are transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
