Day 2 - Jul 20, 2007 -

ARRIVE IN CAIRO
Arrive Cairo late morning. You will be met, assisted and transferred to our hotel the 5-star Ramses Hilton. This afternoon sightseeing begins at the world-famous Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. Highlights include the treasures of the tomb of Tutankhamon and the fascinating Mummy Room.

Day 3 - Jul 21, 2007 -

CAIRO/ LUXOR
We fly from Cairo to Luxor this morning to see some of the crowning achievements of Egyptian architecture. Here we explore one of the world’s largest and oldest religious structures, the Temple of Karnak. In the afternoon we board the Presidential Nile Cruise, our accommodation for the next 3 nights.

Day 4 - Jul 22, 2007 -

LUXOR/ EDFU
Following breakfast we explore Luxor’s West Bank. Here we see the Colossi of Memnon and the Valley of the Kings, where we enter several well-preserved tombs. Later we visit the Tombs of the Nobles and the ancient workmen’s village. This afternoon we see the temple of the female pharaoh Hatshepsut. It is one of the most striking sites of the West Bank, sitting in a natural amphitheater dug deep into the rock at the foot of steep ochre-colored cliffs. This evening we sail to Edfu.

Day 5 - Jul 23, 2007 -

EDFU/ KOMOMBO/ ASWAN
This morning we ride horse-drawn carriages to one of the best preserved temples in Egypt - the Temple of Horus. The famous statue of Horus as a falcon stands in the courtyard. Our ship sails on to Komombo, where we visit the temple shared by the two Gods, Sobek and Haroeris. This evening we sail to Aswan

Day 6 - Jul 24, 2007 -

ASWAN/ CAIRO
In Aswan, our day begins with a visit to the Unfinished Obelisk, where we learn how the ancient monuments were built. Had this obelisk been completed, it would have been the largest of the ancient world. Visit the High Dam and the Temple of Philae. If you wish, you may take a stroll through the Aswan souks, one of Egypt’s best markets. In the late afternoon we fly back to Cairo and transfer to the Hotel

Day 7 - Jul 25, 2007 -

PYRAMIDS/ GREAT SPHINX/ SAKKARA/ MEMPHIS
After a morning briefing by our Egyptologist, we visit the Pyramids of Giza, the sole survivor among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. We also have a close-up look at the Sphinx, carved from a single massive limestone outcrop, and the Solar Boat, Cheops’ 142-foot funerary boat. Afterwards, we drive to Sakkara, the site of the Step Pyramid and several tombs. At nearby Memphis, we see the Alabaster Sphinx and the toppled statue of Ramses II.

Day 8 - Jul 26, 2007 -

CAIRO/ ACCRA
This morning we tour the Egyptian Museum, which holds some of the greatest masterpieces ever crafted, including the Treasures of Tutankhamon. Afternoon at leisure before being transferred to the airport for our early evening flight to Accra, Ghana. Arrive Accra late evening. You will be met, assisted and transferred to your Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 9 - Jul 27, 2007 -

ACCRA
Full day sightseeing tour of Accra. Visit galleries, markets, museums and other points of interest. Test your bargaining skills on the vendors. Welcome dinner with traditional naming ceremony.

Day 10 - Jul 28, 2007 -

ACCRA/ KUMASI
Depart to Kumasi the realm of the Ashanti Kingdom, arriving at noon. We pass through Obouasi, the location of the Ashanti Goldfields - one of the richest mines in the world. In the afternoon, take an excursion to the village of Bonwire, the locale where the famous Royal Kente Cloth is made.

Day 11 - Jul 29, 2007 -

KUMASI/ CAPE COAST
Depart to Cape Coast and Elmina, arriving early afternoon for a brief tour of the city of Cape Coast and transfer to hotel. Tour Elmina Castle, a World Heritage site where slaves were held before being sent to the New World - followed by a walk through the town of Elmina. In the evening, visit the Volta Fisherman Community, a coastal village with traditional industries and Volta style houses.

Day 12 - Jul 30, 2007 -

CAPE COAST
After breakfast, drive to Kakum National Park for a Nature Walk in the Rain Forest and the Aerial Canopy Walkway - giving you a birds-eye view of the Forest Floor. Return to Cape Coast. Tour of Cape Coast Castle, a World Heritage Site.

Day 13 - Jul 31, 2007 -

ACCRA/DEPART
Return to Accra, arriving early afternoon in Aburi for lunch and a visit to the 100 year-old Aburi Botanical Gardens. Mid-afternoon: Visit the woodcarvers and drum makers of Aburi before continuing to Accra. Evening at leisure before late evening departure to the U.S. connecting in Cairo.
