Mauritius, Wild Adventure Excursion: Mahebourg
Day 1 WILD ADVENTURE EXCURSION: MAHEBOURG | | Tour the village of Mahebourg where you will visit the Naval Museum containing various treasures found in wreckages around the island. This French colonial mansion housed English and French naval commanders Willoughby and Duperre while they were wounded at the Battle of Vieux Grand Port in 1810.
Shop in the village while observing the daily life of Mauritians. View the impressive lagoon, a monument dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the battle of Vieux Grand Port, and a monument for the abolition of slavery.
Drive to Domaine du Chasseur and on the way; you will see monuments and ruins from the Dutch and French colonial periods. Lunch will be served at Domaine du Chasseur.
Discover the wildlife of the 1000-acre Domaine du Chasseur such as Javanese stags, wild boars, monkeys, and an enormous variety of birds, including the nearly extinct Mauritian kestrel.
