Day 1 SOUTH EXCURSION

Visit the second most important town and shopping heaven of Mauritius, Floreal. Shopping tour of Floreal's industrial sector, including shops like "Adamus" and "Shibani" which specialize in textiles and cashmere. Shop for souvenirs at the town of Curepipe, while also stopping at the ship model factory which is the main art craft of Mauritians. The sightseeing tour starts with a visit to "Trou Aux Cerfs", which is a dormant volcano approximately 650 meters above sea level. Admire the view of the plateau and mountains of the island. Next is the Grand Bassin, a Crater Lake surrounded by temples and an important Hindu sacred area. View wild and exotic plants and animals while driving through the Plaine Champagne & Macchabee forests. Admire the view from Black River Mountain, which is the highest peak at the Black River Gorges. Southwest is the "Seven Colored Earth", a volcanic phenomenon in which rich mineral and oxides resulted in multi-colored earth. Within the area is the only famous coffee plantation for Chamarel coffee and the magnificent view of the "Chamarel Waterfalls". ^back to top
