Day 1 ARRIVE IN DAR ES SALAAM/ARUSHA | | International flight arrives in Dar es Salaam, take a short flight to Arusha, you will be met, assisted and transferred to your hotel ^back to top |
Day 2 MT. MERU VILLAGE & SCHOOL VISIT | | In a small village on the slopes of Mt. Meru, we will visit a local school where the children may meet and interact and share in the daily activities of their new Tanzanian friends. You will have the opportunity to join in or listen as the children sing songs and perhaps we'll all play a game of soccer. Enjoy a traditional lunch in your guide's home. In the afternoon a guided walk into the forest in search of the black and white Colobus monkey and other wildlife.

Day 3 LAKE MANYARA | | Today, travel toward Lake Manyara, a lush green park boasting incredible birdlife including yellow-billed storks, pelicans, and flamingos. Here you will get your first glimpse of hippos in the lively hippo pool. Meal(s) Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner ^back to top |
Day 4 LAKE EYASI | | Today, descend into the Great Rift Valley to Lake Eyasi. This is home to the Hadza, a people who represent the last hunter-gathers in Tanzania. Fewer than 2,000 Hadzas exist and over 300 of them live in this area where they survive by hunting and gathering. This ancient way of life is fast disappearing, but despite the fact that the Hadza are undergoing the slow transition away from hunting and gathering, their fascinating lifestyle will intrigue you. With luck, we will meet the Mbulu people, who farm the lands. For the next day and half, we will explore this area by foot and vehicle, letting serendipity and circumstance decide our movements. You may have the opportunity to join a campsite of Hadza bushmen, where the Young Adventurers can learn how to shoot a bow and arrow with the Hadza children. Anything is possible, and the possibilities are endless. Each night, return to your campsite, where your visitors will include the Mbulu friends. Day 6 NGORONGORO CRATER | | Depart after lunch, driving through agricultural land to Ngorongoro Crater. Your first view of this 10-mile wide crater will leave you awestruck ... but it is nothing compared with a day of game viewing on the 2,000 foot deep crater floor, searching for black rhino, wildebeest, elephant, buffalo, lion, cheetah, and the occasional leopard. The lodge, which is high on the crater rim, brings you close to the wilderness while affording you the best of comforts.

Day 8 OLDUVAI GORGE & SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK | | After 28 long years in the hot, desolate gullies of Olduvai Gorge, archeologists Louis and Mary Leakey were rewarded with the discovery of Zinjanthropus "Man" -- remains dated at 1.75 million years old. After a short visit to the Gorge Museum, which details their methods and findings, we head to Serengeti National Park. Here is where you will discover the Africa of your imagination: a massive wilderness, 14,500 square kilometers of endless plains and brilliant blue skies. As you begin our journey, youl encounter steadily increasing numbers of wildlife. Each day brings new landscape and new adventure, from short grass plains to dense woodlands of acacia. During your game drives, you will see an astonishing number of animals including leopard, lion, zebra, gazelle, cheetah, antelope, impala, giraffe, ostrich, and warthog, along with over 500- species of birds. There is ample opportunity for the Young Adventurers to fill up their safari dairies with animal and bird sightings.

Day 11 FLY TO ARUSHA/DEPART | | A dramatic drive to the Rift Valley Escarpment wall brings us to the Manyara airstrip where we catch our flight to Arusha. Enjoy a farewell lunch. Day rooms are provided to refresh and relax before our early evening transfer to the airport.
