Day 1 Arrive In Dakar, Senegal

International flight arrives Dakar. You are met, assisted and transferred to your hotel. Day at leisure to relax and refresh.

Day 2 Dakar

Today go on a city tour of Metropolitan Dakar and vicinity. Visit the colorful Tilen Market, famous for a variety of medicinal herbs and traditional healers. Visit the National Art Gallery and the picturesque residential district of Medina.

Day 3 Goree Island

This morning depart for the 15 minutes ferry ride to the charming yet infamous Goree Island. See the "Door of No Return" through which millions passed on the way to slavery in the Americas. The tour includes a visit to the ethnographic museum and a lecture by the curator on the history of Goree Island. Goree Island is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 4 Dakar / Pink Lake / St-Louis

After breakfast, travel to visit the Pink Lake, a rare natural phenomena caused by a unique combination of micro-organism and high concentration of salts which gives the lake its pink colour. Interact with the women harvesting salt and visit the nearby Fulani Village where you will be welcomed by the Chief and his wives. Late afternoon, continue to St Louis, the last colonial capital of Senegal before the Senegalese gained Independence from the French.

Day 5 St. Louis

Tour of St. Louis. Explore the narrow streets flanked by houses with carved wooden balconies and verandas.

Day 6 Djoudj National Bird Park

Visit the Djoudj National Bird Park, which is considered one of the most important bird sanctuaries in the world. Situated on a major palearctic migratory route, this park is a paradise for bird enthusiasts. Some of the world's greatest concentrations of white pelicans and flamingos can be seen here: up to 10,000 of each species.

Overnight at La Residence or Similar

Day 7 St-Louis / Saloum Islands / Saly Resort

After leaving St-Louis, tour the Saloum Islands including "canoe cruising" or just interact with these people whose traditional hospitality enables you to share their daily life of fishing, canoe excursions, meals of mangrove oysters grilled over an open fire. Return to Saly Resort for overnight.

Day 8 3 Options / Dakar

Choice of: (1) Tour of Joal Fadiouth, (2) Spend the day at Saly Beach Resort or (3) Visit to an Orphanage/Elementary School. Return to Dakar for overnight
