Day 2 Arusha, Tanzania

Arrive Arusha, meet assist and transfer to the hotel.

Day 3 Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania’s fourth largest park. You will pass through villages inhabited mostly by the Maasai. Tarangire has a high concentration of game, including numerous elephant herds which are easy to spot due to sparse vegetation.

Day 4 Serengeti

After breakfast drive to Serengeti National Park which is Tanzania’s oldest and most popular national park, and a UNESCO world heritage site. Serengeti National Park is famous for the annual wildebeest migration, along with its collection of game including; Elephants, Buffalo, Cheetah, Zebras, and Gazelle. Arrive at Serengeti National Park in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon at leisure and after dinner go on an evening game drive.

Day 5 Serengeti

After breakfast at the lodge, go on a game drive in Africa's most famous park - the Serengeti. Enjoy another day of exploring its nearly 6000 sq. miles teeming with animals including cheetah, giraffes, lions, leopards, elephants. Every year the park is the scene of the great migration where millions of wildebeest and zebra make the annual trek in search of fresh grass. You will see why many wildlife films and documentaries are filmed in this park.

 

(Optional- visit to a nearby village to meet with members of the Ikoma Tribe who are known for their hunting prowess, their skills at drumming, dancing, and storytelling.)

Day 6 Ngorongoro Crater

Enjoy an early morning game drive; then have breakfast before you are transported to Ngorongoro National Park with a stop at Mto wa Mbu cultural village.The Ngorongoro Crater is a geological marvel boasting several vegetation zones, including lakes, forest, and savannah. The park is home to about 30,000 animals despite its relatively small size.

Day 7 Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast depart to higher elevations, finally attaining the rim of the world's largest unbroken caldera, commonly referred to as "Africa's Garden of Eden". Though only  10 miles across, the Crater is home to nearly every major African mammal imaginable - huge bull elephants, black rhinos, herds of buffalo, wildebeest , gazelle, hippos, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, warthogs, zebras, baboons, monkeys and many others.

This afternoon depart for the Ngorongoro Highlands. On the way, stop at Olduvai Gorge where the Leakey family made the remarkable discovery of Zinjanthropus 'Man'(dated to be 1.4 million years old). Afterwards, visit the small but very informative Olduvai Gorge museum before returning to the lodge. This evening you may visit a nearby Masai village and learn about their fascinating pastoral lifestyle and colorful traditions. (Optional cost 60 per person)

Overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge or Similar

Day 8 Ngorongoro Crater - Arusha - Depart

After a morning game drive and breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive back to Arusha where you will have lunch and can shop for souvenirs as you await your onward flight.

Day 9 Arrive USA

Arrive in Washington, D.C.
