Day 1 Libreville

On arrival in Libreville you will be met, assisted and transferred to your hotel for overnight Libreville is the capital and commercial hub of Gabon.

Day 2 Libreville/Omboue/Loango

Transfer to the Libreville airport to board your flight to Omboué. Arrive Omboué airport and transfer to the Loango Lodge. This afternoon, your guide will take you on a half-day wildlife-viewing excursion in Loango National Park. Located on the coast 250 km to the south of Libreville, Loango stretches over 100 km of wild uninhabited coastline. In this magic place, elephants, hippopotamuses, red buffaloes, wander on the white sand beaches or in marshy areas. Lagoons, savannahs, ocean and forest all offer a varied habitat and constitute a mixed ecosystem that is only found here.

Day 3 Loango National Park

Your safari in Loango continues including a guided kayak safari (weather conditions permitting)

Day 4 Megatrasect Track - Bush Circuit/ Loango National Park

After breakfast, (Dry Season/May - October) you will start the day early to explore one of the most beautiful, remote and untamed parts of Gabon. Our local guides will take you by boat to Akaka.
On your way to Akaka, you will experience the remoteness and unspoiled nature with an enormous diversity of birds, endangered animals and rare butterflies.

Or Travel by 4x4 vehicle to Tassi Savana Camp (Rainy Season/October – April) which is close to the Gorilla Project of the Max Planck Institute where Gorilla and Chimpanzee families are habituated.

Overnight at Evengue Lodge or Similar

Day 5 St. Anne, Evengue: Gorilla Island

After a short 4x4 drive, you will be taken by boat to Mission St. Anne. At this gorgeous spot, you will discover one of Gustaf Eiffel’s towers. In this very tranquil place, you will observe the famous missionary post and we have a short walk through the nearby bamboo forest. We will have lunch at the small gorilla island called Evengue. Here you will observe a gorilla family, meet with the scientists and learn about the gorilla rehabilitation and conservation program.

Day 6 Evengue/Omboue/Lope National Park

Morning transfer from Evengue to Omboue to Lopé National Park. The park has a relatively dry climate compared to most other equatorial rain forests because of its position in the rain shadow of the Chaillu mountain range. Here you will find: primates, antelopes, buffalos, elephants. gorillas, chimpanzees, mandrills, and the endemic sun-tailed monkey (Cercopithicus solatus) discovered in 1984.

Overnight at Lopé Hotel or Similar

Day 7 Lope National Park

Morning at leisure. After lunch your guide will take you on a half-day wildlife-viewing excursion in Lope National Park. Park tours are conducted in 4-wheel drive vehicles, searching for red buffalo and elephant herds, antelopes, wild boars, and birds, and on footpaths allowing you to see the small mammals and monkeys. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 Lope National Park

Morning game drives in the Park. This afternoon, walk through the forest with your guide tracking small mammals, viewing birds and the flora unique to this region.

Day 9 Mikongo Area

This morning, you will have a 90-minute transfer to Mikongo Camp, in the heart of Lope National Park. It's the conservation center of Mikongo where you will experience the tropical forest of Central Africa, observing numerous primates, mammals and birds, including species in danger of extinction, black colobus monkeys, western lowland gorillas, chimpanzees, mangabeys, mandrills, the rare and endemic sun-tailed monkey, elephants, duikers and red river hogs, as well as a rare and very discreet bird – the rock fowl. After lunch walk in the forest looking for chimpanzees, black Colobus, gorillas and other forest mammals, monkeys and birds.

Overnight at Mikongo Camp or Similar

Day 10 Mikongo Area

Today you will go on a full day forest walk in Lope National Park. You will explore the forest through a well-developed network of paths, and with the assistance of trackers and guides. Discover the life of the forest and hope to run into various primates living in this area. Return to the camp for dinner, leisure and overnight.

Overnight at Mikongo Camp or Similar

Day 11 Lope National Park/Libreville

Morning excursion by dugout canoe on the Offoué River to visit an important archaeological site of rock engravings of the region. (depending on weather conditions) After lunch, transfer to the Lope train station for your express train ride to Libreville. Arrive Libreville and transfer to your hotel for overnight.

Day 12 Libreville – Depart

Time permitting; go on a tour of this capital city and commercial hub of Gabon. The "Libre" (before "ville") recalls the legacy of freed slaves who settled here in 1848. Situated on the Gulf of Guinea in northwestern Gabon, Libreville is home to around 450,000 people. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
