Day 1 Arrive In Libreville/Evengue
On arrival , you will be met, assisted and and fast-tracked through customs/immigration to be airlifted to Petit Loango National Park. At the small airport of Omboue, our Loango Lodge staff will welcome you and transfer you by a small boat trip to the small gorilla island of Evengue where you will spend most of your stay. In the evening you will meet the scientists who are observing the gorilla family that stays on Evengue. You will be briefed on the histoy of the area and current Gorilla conservation efforts. Afterl breakfast, your guide will take you by piroque (a traditional Gabonese boat) to Mission St. Anne where you will meet the priest and nurses of the mission post. The tranquility of the place is only surpassed by the amazing metal church. At St. Anne you will enjoy lunch. Together with our historical guides, you will visit the archaeology sites which presents glimpses into the lives of the population during the past 10.000 years. After refreshments with a local family, we return by boat to Evengue. After dinner you will be entertained with music, dancing and the and a display of f the traditional inauguration of the local chief. After breakfast, you will be guided into the rain forest where the use of medical plants for healing and relaxation will be explained and demonstrated by a traditional medecineman. After breakfast, transfer by boat to Omboue, them by 4x4 vehicle to Loango Lodge in Iguela When you are ready you will be be taken on a guided bushwalk followed by game drive or boat safari in the Petit Loango National Park. Today visit one of the most spectacular and historical places in Gabon, Lambarene, hometown of Albert Schweitzer. You will visit the hospital and experience the surroundings in which the Nobel Prize winner has worked for many years making history. Today there is a foot safari to Louri whee there is an abundance of birds and animals In the afternoon travel by boat to visit with the ‘Chef du Canton’, the governor of the jungle where his family lives in this most remote area. After breakfast, transfer back to Libreville where you will spend the rest of the day on a city tour visiting all poins of interests of Libreville. Or you extent your stay with a stay at Sao Tome and Principe and have a relaxed time at the beach on one of the least discovered islands of Africa.
