| Flavours restaurant at Safari Garden opened at the beginning of the 2002 season. It has an impressive à la carte menu of gourmet dishes that focus on 'new wave' Gambian cuisine. Our emphasis is to source our ingredients from local suppliers and all our food is made on the premises.
We are well known for our vegetarian dishes, homemade cakes, in-house bread and our own ice creams and yoghurts - Maurice's Beetroot and Chocolate cake with homemade ice cream is not to be missed! At the poolside, delicious snacks are available all day together with our daily specials.
Our breakfast treats include everything from cooked breakfasts to wonderful homemade yoghurt and honey still on the comb straight from our own hives. You will also find delicious sesame based foods produced by local women farmers as well as a wide selection of fresh local fruit - mangoes, bananas, water melon and papaya.
The hotel has a number of links with local craft people and artists. The advantage of these activities is that you spend the whole day in the company of a local person who has something to teach you. A very different experience to the usual interaction with mass tourism.
We can arrange yoga, batik, drumming and cookery classes; Tuesday evenings is our dance lesson and Friday is our BBQ night when we have candle lit tables by the poolside. The first Friday of every month is our themed gourmet food night which is very popular and it is often necessary to book well in advance in the season.
