Built in the Nubian Desert on the banks of the Nile River opposite Elephantine Island, the hotel is majestically positioned on an outcrop of pink granite overlooking the Nile. It opened its doors in 1889 and has become a legendary name in hospitality. The Cataract Hotel is located in the center of Aswan, 24 km from the Aswan Airport. Victorian architecture combines elegantly with interior decor inspired by the Orient. This unique hotel inspired the Agatha Christie novel, Death on the Nile. 123 rooms and 8 suites.
